Background: Williams has a conservative voting record on fiscal and business issues, but has been more moderate on social issues. He voted to legalize the medical use of marijuana in 2007 and was one of nine House Republicans to vote in 2009 for a bill codifying in state law a court decision legalizing same-sex marriage.
