Asmita Aasaavari, a University of Connecticut doctoral student in sociology from India, studies at home on Wednesday, July 22. She usually goes back to India for her research, but she decided not to this year. “Going to India meant, ‘what if I will get stuck in India and the U.S. wouldn’t let me in?'” Aasaavari said. “My Ph.D. is here. My research is here. My professional life is here… I have put seven years of my precious life at stake by coming to the U.S. away from my family and friends.” Yehyun Kim / CT Mirror
