Among the top three Republican candidates, former U.S. Rep. Rob Simmons matches up strongest against Democratic Attorney General Richard Blumenthal in the race for U.S. Senate, a new poll found.
A Rasmussen Reports poll conducted April 7 and released today shows Blumenthal leading Simmons, 52 percent to 38 percent. A month ago, the same poll had Blumenthal leading Simmons, 58 percent to 32 percent.
Blumenthal leads Linda McMahon, the former chief executive of World Wrestling Entertainment, 55 percent to 35 percent. A month ago, his lead over McMahon was 60 percent to 31 percent.
His lead over Peter Schiff in the new poll was 58 percent to 32 percent, compared to 57 percent to 27 percent a month ago.
Rasmussen did not survey Republicans as to their preference in the race for the GOP nomination, which a recent Quinipiac poll has McMahon leading.
