This just out from the office of newly sworn U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, who does not have to worry about re-election until he is 70. We assume that Sen. Lieberman would love to attend, if not for the sabbath. By the way, it’s supposed to be 17 degrees at 8 a.m., warming to around 20 by 9 a.m.

SENATOR RICHARD BLUMENTHAL TO PARTICIPATE IN LOCAL PLUNGE FOR THE CURE

(Washington, DC) – Senator Richard Blumenthal will be participating in the 11th Annual Icy Plunge for the Cure in West Haven, CT on Saturday, January 15th. Presented by the Breast Cancer Awareness Committee, Senator Blumenthal will be one of an estimated 200 brave souls plummeting into the frigid waters of the Long Island Sound helping raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research. Previous year’s proceeds have gone to the Looking Forward program at the Hospital of Saint Raphael’s Father Michael J. McGivney Center for Cancer Care and the Yale Breast Center at Yale-New Haven’s Smilow Cancer Hospital. Last year’s plunge raised almost $42,000 and organizers are expecting another great turnout this weekend.
