Rep. Joe Courtney, D-2nd District, is running his first television commercial in his bid to win a fourth term in Congress. Facing a challenge from Republican Paul Formica, an East Lyme first selectman, Courtney is running an ad called “Works,” which shows the congressman meeting constituents, including workers at Electric Boat, and says he’s focused on efforts to protect Naval Submarine Base New London from closure.

“In tough times like these, Joe Courtney works,” the ad says.

It does not mention challenger Formica.

Courtney and Formica are slated to hold their first debate Oct 29.
