Jack Orchulli intends to announce during a radio appearance Friday night that he is establishing the “infrastructure” necessary to campaign for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate, according to a source familiar with Orchulli’s plans.

But Orchulli, the GOP nominee in 2004, will stop short of joining Stamford businessman August Wolf and state Rep. Dan Carter of Bethel as a declared candidate.

The Republican nominee will face U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, the heavily favored first-term Democrat.
