Session 1

Politics, Policy and Data of the ‘Pandemic Session’

Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021 (7 p.m.)

The night before the 2021 legislative session convenes, John Dankosky will sit down with Mark Pazniokas (Capitol Bureau Chief), Jenna Carlesso (health reporter) and Kasturi Pananjady (data reporter) to discuss the broad challenges that the General Assembly must confront in the new year.

The three will address a combination of practical questions (“What will this legislative session look like?”) and policy ones (“How is the legislature planning to address the challenges of the pandemic?”) while breaking down the latest data available on the pandemic and its wide-reaching impact. They also will answer questions from viewers about the upcoming session.

Session 2

Education, Housing, Social Services and Criminal Justice

Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021 (7 p.m.)

With the new session still in its early days, John Dankosky will sit down with Jacqueline Rabe Thomas (housing and education reporter), Kelan Lyons (criminal justice reporter) and Adria Watson (education reporter) to discuss how the General Assembly plans to tackle Connecticut’s longstanding disparities and barriers to opportunity in education, housing, social services and criminal justice. The three will offer insights on legislation under consideration and answer questions from viewers.

Budget and Economy

Just days before the governor’s annual budget address, John Dankosky will sit down with Keith Phaneuf (budget reporter) to discuss the current state of Connecticut’s economy and the new budgetary challenges created by the pandemic. During this hourlong conversation, Keith will offer insights on the governor’s forthcoming budget proposal and answer questions from viewers.
