Comments Policy

We decided to move the Mirror to the Facebook plugin for commenting for a few reasons. Some studies have shown that more meaningful dialogue happens with less anonymity (not always, but more often, and more than just an anonymous thread). More media outlets have made this move. Our old system asked our audience to go through login prompts and there you can still remain anonymous – somewhat counter-intuitive to our goal of meaningful dialogue.

So all you need to do is scroll down to “Comments” and click the “comment” button. If you are not logged in to Facebook through another open tab on your browser, a prompt will appear, which will ask you to log in through Facebook. If you are already logged in to Facebook on the same browser, you will automatically see your profile.

Now this is the part that may allay some concerns for our audience. You will not be redirected to Facebook and will remain on our page. You can now post and your comment will appear on our site under your Facebook profile. Also, please note, that you have the option to check off whether you want your comment to appear in your Facebook feed on your page. If you don’t want it to appear, simply check off. The comment will still remain on the comments section of the story.
