Danny Lenz (right) blows a kiss to his parents, Rick and Fay Lenz, (left) after a visit to his apartment in Avon. Danny Lenz, 39, who has intellectual disabilities, has lived independently with a roommate here for 13 years. Due to social distancing requirements because of the COVID-19 outbreak the senior Lenzes visit Danny twice a week bearing Dunkin’ Donuts coffee, a doughnut and a bag with magazines and snacks. They place them near his door when they arrive before backing away as he comes out to greet them. After taking the treats inside, Danny came back out and chatted with his parents for a few minutes. Danny used to visit his parents’ home every other weekend, but was ordered to shelter in place the second week of March. The twice-weekly visits and phone calls are the only connection they have as long as the virus is a danger.
