Gym reopens05

Deb Vynalek, owner of Core Club & 24/7 Gym in Durham, uses spray disinfectant on free weights as patron Nathan Trucks, of Guilford, takes a breather while working out at the fitness club shortly after they reopened at 6:00 a.m. after being shuttered for three months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The space has been retrofitted with plexiglass barriers, numerous hand sanitizer stations, disinfectant spray and signage reminding patrons to wipe down equipment after each use to prevent the spread of the virus and to follow state guidelines for Phase 2 reopening. “I just want people back here,” said Vynalek. “When you walk in the door, you’re ok. It’s safe.”
