The ramp to the pavilion at Meigs Point at Hammonasset Beach State Park is closed until further notice because its not wide enough to allow for social distancing as required to prevent the spread of COVID-19. At the start of the Memorial Day weekend Friday there were 200 cars lined up waiting for the park to open at 7:30 a.m. The park closed when they reached capacity at 12:15 p.m. according to a park ranger.
