Corey hopes third try is charm in ousting Larson

WASHINGTON — Since he was first elected to represent a Hartford-based congressional district in 1998, Rep. John Larson has not had a serious challenge from a GOP opponent and – if fundraising and history are any measures – it looks like his winning record will continue this year. Yet Matthew Corey, a business owner from Manchester, says Larson has failed in a key mission – stopping the bleeding of jobs in the 1st District. He hopes his third try at unseating Larson is a charm.

CT Dems joined national Democrats in gun-control fundraising pitch

WASHINGTON — Republicans vying to unseat Connecticut Democrats say they are outraged by the attempt to raise political cash from what they characterized as exploitation of the mass shooting in Orlando earlier this month. Meanwhile, the Connecticut Democratic Party accused the GOP candidates of using their outrage to avoid taking a position on the gun control legislation at the center of the controversy.

Esty, Himes top House fundraisers

Washington – Rep. Elizabeth Esty, D-5th District, has raised more campaign money than any member of Connecticut’s congressional delegation, an analysis of the latest reports filed with the Federal Elections Commission show.
Esty raised a little more than $2.5 million as of Sept. 30. Rep. Jim Himes, D-4th District, raised a little less than $2.5 million.
