As of mid-2025, marijuana in Connecticut is nearly three times more expensive than in Massachusetts.

According to data from the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection, the average price per gram of usable cannabis in June 2025 was $9.46 in the state’s adult-use and medical markets. In contrast, the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission reported that in April 2025, the average retail cost per gram of marijuana flower was just $3.31.

Even looking at data from a year earlier, the pattern holds: in June 2024, Connecticut’s price was $12.16 per gram, while Massachusetts reported $5.31 per gram in April 2024. The obvious price difference may be driven by a more mature market in Massachusetts, which legalized recreational marijuana in 2016. Connecticut followed six years later, resulting in a smaller supply and less competition. Overall, Connecticut consumers are paying significantly more per gram.
