The Connecticut Mirror and KFF Health News teamed up to investigate the burden of medical debt in Connecticut. Together, the newsrooms analyzed more than 16,000 lawsuits filed against patients from 2019 to 2024, interviewed dozens of people who were sued over unpaid medical bills, and revealed which providers were most often taking patients to court.
