Renee LaMark Muir, of Deep River, has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a master’s degree in law enforcement administration from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City, according to her legislative biography.

A former special investigator for the New York City Department of Investigation, LaMark Muir then worked as a principal analyst with the Connecticut General Assembly’s Legislative Program Review and Investigation Committee before leaving that role to join the Hartford Police Department, where she worked as a patrol officer and then later as a detective, according to her biography.

She has also worked as a senior policy and research analyst with the Institute for Municipal and Regional Policy at the University of Connecticut.
