Kevin Lembo, a Democratic candidate for comptroller, said today he has raised the necessary funds to qualify for public financing for his primary with Michael Jarjura, who was granted public financing yesterday.
Lembo’s campaign issued this statement:
Kevin Lembo, the party endorsed Democratic candidate for State Comptroller, has raised the necessary funds to qualify for a clean elections grant from more than 1,385 donors in 130 towns across Connecticut, the campaign announced today.
“I am enormously gratified and humbled by the support from such a diverse group of individuals and I thank each and every one of them for their commitment to me and our Democratic principles,” Lembo said. “The outpouring of support in messages, endorsements and financial contributions, particularly in the last week, have been overwhelming. We are energized for the race ahead and I am confident in our ability to win the Democratic primary on August 10th.”
Lembo will file the requisite paperwork with the State Elections Enforcement Commission to apply for a $375,000 grant before the Friday deadline.
