Another poll today shows Democrat Richard Blumenthal with a strong but narrowing lead over Republican Linda McMahon in the U.S. Senate race.
The latest Rasmussen Reports poll give Blumenthal a 13-point lead over McMahon, 53 percent to 40 percent. Last month, Rasmussen showed Blumenthal ahead of McMahon by 56 percent to 33 percent. McMahon is a strong favorite in a primary contest for the Republican nomination, while Blumenthal is unopposed.
Last week, the Quinnipiac Poll found Blumenthal ahead of McMahon by 17 points, 54 percent to 37 percent.
Blumenthal also leads Republican Peter Schiff, who petitioned his way onto the primary ballot against McMahon, by 18 percentage points, according to the Rasmussen poll.
Rob Simmons, a Republican whose name will still appear on the ballot but is no longer campaigning, trails Blumenthal by 14 percentage points.
