A new source for health news debuts today with the launch of a website by the non-profit Connecticut Health Investigative Team.

Founded by two longtime Hartford Courant journalists, Lynne DeLucia and Lisa Chedekel, C-HIT says it is “dedicated to producing original, responsible, in-depth journalism on issues of health and safety, in Connecticut and the surrounding region.”

DeLucia and Chedekel have deep roots in Connecticut journalism, having worked at the New Haven Register prior to their time at the Courant. Among other awards, they were part of the Courant team that won the 1999 Pulitzer Prize for breaking news coverage of the state lottery shooting.

C-HIT is a project of the New Haven-based Online Journalism Project, which also is affiliated with the New Haven Independent and the Branford Eagle.
