Dear Friends,

With the start of April, I thought I’d provide a brief report on our progress during the first quarter of 2011. CT Mirror marked its first anniversary on January 25. In February we welcomed our one millionth visitor.

Also in February, we re-introduced CT Commons, the Mirror’s home for commentary and perspective on the issues that matter to our state. This section presents individual views on a broad range of subjects related to Connecticut government, politics and public policy. We invite your contributions.

We added the CT Weekly newsletter, as a convenient way to get the week’s top stories delivered to your inbox every Saturday.

On March 16, thanks to a grant from the Tremaine Foundation, we hosted our first public forum at Yale’s Kroon Hall in New Haven as we took CT Mirror “on the road” . The Connecticut Mirror’s forum on “Creating the Climate for Green Jobs” was over-subscribed and recorded by CT-N. It can be viewed on-demand here.

Also during the first quarter we welcomed three new print syndication partners. The (Waterbury) Republican-American, The (New London) Day and New Haven Business now carry CT Mirror stories.

We also welcomed new sponsors as the Connecticut Hospital Association and the United Illuminating Company joined the Connecticut State University System as proud sponsors.

We are pleased to announce that we were awarded a Google grant which will help us spread the word online.

And of course, our news staff continued to produce the best coverage of Connecticut state government and public policy with daily reports from Hartford and throughout Connecticut and Washington D.C.

Please help us continue to advance the cause of nonpartisan public policy journalism in Connecticut by making a tax deductible donation or signing up your organization as a proud sponsor.

Sincerely,

Jim Cutie
