Chris Murphy’s campaign said Wednesday that his 1st quarter fundraising report will show that he’s raised $1.1 million in the first ten weeks of the 2012 U.S. Senate race.

That’s about double what Murphy’s Democratic rival, Susan Bysiewicz, has told supporters she will report on April 15, when the two will have to file their first federal campaign finance reports. Bysiewicz has indicated that she’s raised at least $500,000 in her run for the U.S. Senate in 2012.

The former secretary of the state hasn’t said how much of that she still has in the bank. Murphy’s campaign said in a press release Wednesday that the 5th District congressman will report nearly $950,000 cash-on-hand, a sizable stash of money at such an early juncture in the race.

After all, Election Day is still more than 18 months away.
