Connecticut’s congressional delegation is planning a big get-together. The impetus? Raising campaign cash.
All 5 of the state’s U.S. House members will be heading to the Foxwoods Resort Casino July 8th to 10th for a “Weekend Retreat.” The beneficiary of the event is Rep. Joe Courtney, according to the invitation, but there are ten “special guests,” including Reps. John Larson, Rosa DeLauro, Jim Himes and Chris Murphy. Plus, a half-dozen House members from other states will be there to schmooze with attendees-including Reps. Richard Neal, D-Mass., and Peter Welch, D-Vt.
The fun begins with a “welcome party” and “dinner with casino 101.” The itinerary also includes golf, of course. And a “festive evening boat ride,” along the Thames River to watch fireworks, with a “private VIP cocktail reception” on board.
For the more substantive-minded, there’s a policy breakfast toward the end of the weekend. The price of admission is $2,000 for an individual, $2,500 for a political action committee, and $5,000 for a PAC that wants to sponsor the event.
