U.S. Senate hopeful Susan Bysiewicz got a political lift today from EMILY’s List, a national fundraising group that recruits and supports Democratic pro-choice female candidates.
EMILY’s List put Bysiewicz, Connecticut’s former secretary of the state, “on the list.” That’s not a full-fledged endorsement but it will almost certainly help draw Democratic donors to her campaign.
Bysiewicz faces a three-way contest for the Democratic nomination. Her rivals are Rep. Chris Murphy, D-5th, and state Rep. William Tong. Both outraised Bysiewicz in the 2nd fundraising quarter, although she’s still raised more than $900,000 so far this year. And the backing from EMILY’s List will no doubt help her in this quarter.
“By putting Bysiewicz “On the List,” EMILY’s List is ensuring she has early access to this enthusiastic support,” the group said in a statement this morning.
No Republican has officially entered the race yet.
