I want to thank you for supporting and partnering with us as The Connecticut Mirror continues its fourth year of providing comprehensive reporting on issues that matter to Connecticut.
It is an exciting time for me to begin as the new CEO/Publisher of this organization. With the most talented staff of journalists in the state and an active board of directors, the Mirror continues to inform and engage Connecticut’s 3.5 million inhabitants in a way no other news- and information-gathering operation can. Through interactive, multimedia journalism, we continue to adapt to the different ways people consume content; and this is just the beginning for a still young and vibrant organization.
CTMirror reporters – including the only full-time Connecticut correspondent covering Washington, D.C. – have produced more than 5,000 original stories, many of which have been re-published in 25 Connecticut daily newspapers and other media outlets. In addition, our veteran staff continues to be a guiding voice in shaping public policy, with regular appearances on daily and weekly radio and television news programs throughout the state. CTMirror’s coverage has earned it unparalleled nonpartisan reporting credentials while claiming more than a dozen state and national awards since the beginning of 2012.
Here are a few ways we are planning to engage our audience online and offline from now until the end of the year:
- Provide more data and interactive content for a more informed state through our recently redesigned website.
- Make digital offerings through platforms such as iTunes and Amazon.
- Launch the first half of our CT Mirror Tour, an interactive event — hosted by the organization in your town or city, where journalists, lawmakers and experts weigh in on some of the state’s most pressing issues.
- Hold public forums examining the state of education, the environment and the skills gap in Connecticut.
We thank you for all your support and welcome newcomers to our growing community to ensure our operation continues to thrive. Please consider supporting the Connecticut News Project, Inc., (publisher of CTMirror.org) either by making a tax-deductible donation, attending one of our upcoming events or simply passing the word to your friends and fellow constituents through social media or word of mouth.
