I want to serve as at least one voice who saw something good come from the General Assembly’s revision of Gov. Dannel Malloy’s irresponsible budget proposal.

The governor’s needlessly cruel and disproportionate cuts that would have affected Connecticut’s most vulnerable citizens — those with intellectual and developmental disabilities — were for the most part rejected by the General Assembly. The person most responsible for reversing those devastating cuts is Sen. Beth Bye, and I want to thank her for her critical role in standing up for those the governor would have harmed.

It is difficult to imagine the pain and suffering that would have been inflicted had Sen. Bye and her colleagues not showed compassion for those individuals and families whose lives are already a constant struggle.
