Connecticut parents are not always original when it comes to naming their babies; the most popular 2025 baby names in Connecticut fell among the most popular in the nation.
For girls’ names, Charlotte was the top choice in Connecticut — with 176 parents picking the name in 2025. And for baby boys, 268 parents in the state chose the name Noah, according to the Social Security Administration.
Charlotte and Noah are both the second-most popular names in the nation — trailing behind Olivia and Liam.
All states in New England chose Charlotte as the most popular name for girl last year. Boy names were less regionally grouped, with some divergence within New England. Theodore and Oliver were more popular in states north of Connecticut.
Compared to a decade ago, the popularity of baby names changed, especially for boy names. After a decade, only two names, Noah and Liam, remain in the top 10 for boy names.
Six girl names from 2015’s top 10 still remain popular in Connecticut. But the names Abigail, Emily and Sophia dropped in ranking since 2015.
For this year, there are some new names emerging nationally. The name Klarity jumped by nearly 1,400 places to the 791st most popular name in the nation for girls. For boys, the name Kasai got a bump of more than 1,100 places, hitting 639th place.
