The Parental Rights movement seeks to undermine the professionalism of educators and perpetuate the sharp divisions that now exist in society.

Pay Maggie for her work staying home with her children
Maggie has taken an unpaid leave of absence through no fault of her own. She has left a job she felt competent at and felt good about to assume a job at which she feels incompetent. Society has announced, through its pay actions, that her job in the bank is worthwhile and worthy of compensation but her job in the home is worthless and unworthy of pay. This is precisely the wrong message for us to send.
On reducing the self-hatred and alienation of our young men
The young man is alone. He has no friends. He has been expelled from school. He has no relation with his family: they are dead or at least dead to him. He has been told all his life that he is a bad person. He now believes it. He hates himself. And, because he hates himself, he hates everything around him. The world is a giant conspiracy aimed at keeping him down, preventing him from being who he is. Most of all he feels powerless. Nothing he does has any effect on his hated environment.
Except for one thing: his guns.
Lawmakers must correct irrational school funding system
Gov. Dannel Malloy has proposed massive changes in education funding and the legislature is beginning to work on his proposals. While it is extremely unlikely that the governor’s radical proposals will be adopted, the legislature needs to correct the irrational funding system that now exists. Sixty witnesses testified at the Education Committee’s recent hearing on the subject.
‘Dark poison’ in Judge Moukawsher’s education ruling
Judge Thomas Moukawsher issued a monumental ruling last week in Connecticut Coalition for Justice in Education Funding v. Rell. Based on an extensive trial that ran from January through June, the judge determined that Connecticut’s system of funding education was irrational and unconstitutional. As to his basic findings, Judge Moukawsher is to be applauded. The excellent decision came, however, with a very dark poison in it. Judge Moukawsher proposed that certain children with severe disabilities be denied a public education.
