It’s time we wrote what the Democratic/Republican establishment fear to admit and the zealots fear we write – our process is a broken one. COVID-19, just like 9/11 or any crisis to date, more than patently laid that bare for us.
Gov. Ned Lamont’s shutdown orders are the ultimate coup and solidification of two-party power by effectively forbidding any challengers from collecting signatures they need to petition onto the ballot. Gov. Lamont can either lift this requirement now, or he can open the state, now, if there is such a lack of an emergency which would warrant the burdensome collection of signatures.
Asking why you should vote for the Libertarian Party is the wrong question. The question ought to be “when?” Everyone has a different threshold for that. Connecticut’s health, arguably America’s health as well, demand a serious movement of that goal post to immediately rather than later.
