J.R. Romano’s recent resignation as the state’s Republican Party chair has brought into focus the need for a viable opposition party in Connecticut. It is not healthy politics when everything is totally controlled by one party: the legislature, the governorship, and most of the major municipalities in our state.

Intelligent bonding necessary for Connecticut’s welfare
This year the state borrowed approximately $2.7 billion by way of bonding – a lot money no matter how you look at it. As a matter of fact, it is the most the state has ever bonded. The cost of this year’s bonding is around $8,350,000 per annum in interest.Intelligent bonding is a necessary part of efficient working and modern government. When all is said and done, when you include the jobs created, resulting new tax revenue, and the like, the state bonding at 3.07 percent should result in a handsome profit.
Letting Sanders run as a Democrat was a big mistake by the DNC
Bernie Sanders. A Democrat. Really?
Sanders has run and been elected as Mayor of Burlington, Vermont; run for and been elected a Vermont Congressman; and run and been elected as a U.S. senator from Vermont. In none of those elections has he ever identified himself as a Democrat. He has run as either a socialist, or independent, but never as a Democrat.
