The top priority for our state should always be to have a competitive insurance market for all businesses.

The current COVID-19 environment has upended every corner of our personal and professional lives.  The number of employee furloughs, layoffs and employment loss in recent weeks has been staggering.  Connecticut’s small businesses are trying every means possible to continue working and to provide for their employees.  Our usual foundations seem to be wearing away day by day.

Insurance is a hot topic in Hartford. That’s nothing new. After all, Connecticut is the “Insurance Capital of the World.” But today, legislators are the ones doing the talking about insurance. I commend them for addressing the high cost of insurance for employers and individuals in our state but a public option is not the answer.
