Jodi Rell’s last set of judicial nominations Friday, backing an ethnically diverse panel of four who could end up serving only a few months. Foley hopes independent voters carry him to victory

Pension study panel draws few conclusions
The panel tasked with crafting a specific strategy to stabilize under-funded state retiree benefit programs reached a strange conclusion this week, issuing a laundry list of suggestions, no priorities, and a warning that its seven members – who haven’t met in the past month – aren’t unanimous in their endorsement. The report of Gov. M. […]

Foley, who has narrowed Malloy’s lead to 5 percentage points in one poll this […]
In last debate, Malloy comes close to no-tax-hike pledge
WEST HARTFORD — Democratic gubernatorial contender Dan Malloy danced uncharacteristically close to pledging not to raise taxes during Tuesday’s final televised debate, insisting afterward he wouldn’t rule out an increase if necessary to preserve social services. Malloy budget strategy is lean on spending cuts
Despite the state’s huge impending budget deficit, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Dan Malloy has unequivocally pledged to shield some large areas of spending from cuts. Beyond that, he has made strong statements of support for a variety of other programs, leaving at least some advocates with an expectation that they, too, would be spared the budget […]
