One day in May the CDC had decided that it was safe for fully vaccinated individuals to remove their masks in public.  For many this was a joyous occasion. For some, however, this historic moment appears to come with much confusion, hesitation and fear.

In the past century, the two-party political system has always been viewed as a crucial aspect of our great democracy. The parties’ ideological differences were seen as a check and balance mechanism that led to compromise; the coming together of best practices, thus resulting in historic progress. As  I raise my own children, however, I find myself in a country that is very different from when I grew up. Both parties have become extremely polarized, the Democrats to the left and the Republicans to the extreme right.  There is no debate.  There is no compromise.
