The “War on Drugs” has failed to accomplish its mission and has had a disproportionate and profoundly negative impact on black Americans. But strategies can change — and as one learned from the Iraq war – a change in strategy can produce dramatic results. America needs a new strategy where less punitive demand-side measures of treatment, prevention, and education play the dominant role in confronting our drug epidemic.

“If” the Connecticut press corps exercises its First Amendment responsibilities, then an independent ticket can win Connecticut’s gubernatorial election. If an independent candidate were to win a statewide election it could be a bellwether for our nation and mark the moment in time when the dominant two-party system in America began crashing down.
