I would like to stay calm but I can’t. I can stay silent, but I must not. In light of the predicted devastation that Hurricane Florence may bring to the Carolinas, President Donald Trump’s fingers have once again taken a life of their own on Twiyter. He has attempted to create an alternative reality. People who do not know the facts about Hurricane María and Puerto Rico may be ready to accept them.
I won´t. He is a demagogue.

‘My people are in the dark, thirsty, hungry and alone’
I am in Hartford, where I live, but now my mind is somewhere else. I believe that I share the same feelings held by people from Louisiana, Texas and Florida when they were flooded and beaten by a string of powerful and mean hurricanes. It is a feeling of abandonment and sorrow. My people are in the dark, thirsty, hungry and alone.
Sorrow, anger, pain and questions about the Orlando massacre
I biked 26 miles yesterday but I still cannot overcome this sorrow, anger, pain and loss. I have emailed every single one of my students from Central Connecticut State University who could have possibly been at The Pulse in Orlando. Many of them do summer internships at Disney World. I am glad that all of them are safe.
