New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker wants to spend $3.8 million of federal relief on placing 500 new surveillance cameras citywide.
Residents will be responsible for purchasing, setting up and maintaining the devices.
Bills permitting the recording devices have been raised several times in Connecticut, but the push this year is strong.
