Everybody seems to be in a hurry to get going on 2012.

U.S. Rep. Chris Murphy will discuss his candidacy for the U.S. Senate seat held by the retiring Joe Lieberman in a conference call today after he arrives from Washington D.C., then follow up at 5 p.m. with a public event at restaurant in his hometown of Cheshire.

Ah, nothing like the hoopla of a good conference call.

Susan Bysiewicz, of course, just jumped in Tuesday with an emailed announcement and followed up with telephone interviews.

Fast and cheap seem to be the way to go this year. Not a good week for the folks who sell balloons.

UPDATE: Murphy has released an online video, announcing his candidacy. Our story is here.
