It’s not just Gov. Dannel P. Malloy describing his budget as an exercise in “shared sacrifice.”

In New York, those are the same words Gov. Andrew Cuomo is using to characterize his budget, but New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is saying that a budget deal reached Sunday may make Cuomo look good politically, but it comes at a steep cost the city.

New Jersey Gov. Chriis Christie, Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett and President Obama are among the other chief executives to use those same words.

But if you google the phrase “shared sacrifice” and “budget,” a story about Malloy comes up first among the 480,000 results — at least today.
