Kevin Rennie’s had fun tweaking U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-3rd District, for being on vacation in Italy during Irene’s rude visit to her shoreline district. Weathering the storm at the Hotel Poseidon on the Amalfi Coast did present comic opportunities that were hard to overlook.

Now, Rosa’s back, hectoring the utilities, seeking help from the Army Corps of Engineers and touring, touring, touring. On Saturday alone, her office issued four press releases.

And in much of her district, the lights came on!

Just as we can’t be sure that Rennie is responsible for Rosa’s return, nor can we show that Rosa’s return is responsible for the lights coming on. That whole correlation, causation thing gets a little murky.

But, just in case.

Thank you, Rosa.

Thank you, Kevin.

Next storm, my check list:

1. Buy batteries

2. Check supply of candles

3. Ascertain whereabouts of John Larson
