Voter rolls have swelled by 130,000 since the first of the year, with Democrats picking up nearly twice as many members as Republicans, 45,625 to 23,379. Another 58,310 new voters registered as unaffiliated.
The state now has more than 2 million voters: Unaffiliated, 842,335; Democrats, 744,729; and Republicans, 422,312. Voter registration always spikes in presidential election years.
“If you are not registered, you must put your forms in the mail by next Tuesday, October 23rd. You have until the following Tuesday, October 30th to register in-person at your town offices,” Secretary of the State Denise Merrill said Tuesday.
