Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, who is in Washington for a panel discussion on gun-violence initiatives, told Chris Matthews on MSNBC’s “Hardball” that Newtown “truthers” who doubt the massacre happened are mentally disturbed.
“They are really sick. Honestly, these are not well people,” Malloy said Monday evening. “So anyone who ascribes to that theory really is advertising they shouldn’t be trusted for any reason.”
Malloy is a panelist Tuesday at a forum sponsored by the Center for American Progress Action Fund with U.S. Rep. Mike Thompson, D-Calif., the chairman of the House Democrats’ Gun Violence Protection Task Force.
The discussion will be live-streamed from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Malloy left Monday for Washington and is to return late Tuesday.
