Former U.S. Comptroller General David M. Walker, who has been talking to Republicans about seeking the party’s nomination for lieutenant governor, has scheduled a press conference Monday at the State Capitol to make “a major political announcement.”

An advisory about the conference was issued under the letterhead of the “David Walker exploratory committee,” which has reserved the web domain name of “walkerforct.com.” Jerry Labriola Jr., the GOP state chairman, will be joining Walker at the press event.

Walker, who lives in Bridgeport, has been a leader in No Labels, which bills itself as “a citizens’ movement of Democrats, Republicans and independents dedicated to a new politics of problem solving.”

He will be competing with Rep. Penny Bacchiochi, R-Somers, who said Friday that her exploratory committee has raised $71,000.
