I realize Gov. Dannel Malloy’s spokesman Devon Puglia is young. But I wonder if he ever heard of Ted Koppel. While fully realizing that his  job is to evade and obfuscate, Puglia’s June 5 comments, as quoted in The Hartford Courant

“It’s the same old bogus pattern with the GOP – they want you to believe you can get something for nothing.”

“Republicans want you to think that you can go to the mall, pick out all the items you want from your favorite stores, and walk out without paying anything.”

“We’ve delivered the largest investment in transportation in Connecticut history, and yet they still find a way to oppose it.”

“They want to have their cake, eat it too, and then claim they never wanted cake to begin with.”

…were embarrassingly immature and irrelevant.

And his analogies are ridiculous.

The issue, Devon, is that your boss has lied to us in both his elections about not raising taxes. And to add insult to injury, he now is ridiculously claiming he isn’t the one who raised taxes.

What a coward! I suggest, young Devon Puglia, if you are going to be an artful dodger for the artful dodger, at least put a little more thought into your deceptive answers to the real issues you wish to avoid.

And I’m guessing Puglia privately calls Rush Limbaugh and Bill O’Reilly stuffed-suit-Republican-talking heads.

I’d pay good money to see Ted Koppel interview or question Malloy, Puglia, Limbaugh or O’Reilly.

I’m so sick of politicians and their stoolies being allowed to get away with not directly answering questions they are asked and making claims that are untrue. Where have the journalists who actually had a spine go? Journalists should be going for the jugular like Koppel when tap danced to.
