President Obama phoned University of Connecticut men’s basketball Head Coach Kevin Ollie and University of Connecticut Women’s Head Coach Geno Auriemma Tuesday to congratulate both teams on their National Championship wins.

A statement from the White House said Obama “commended Coach Ollie and his team on their decisive championship victory and noted that he enjoyed watching the team throughout their tournament run.”

On the call with Auriemma, the White House statement said Obama “expressed how impressive it’s been to see the team continue to dominate the field of Women’s NCAA Basketball.”

The president also told both winning coaches he looks forward to congratulating the UConn teams at the White House in the coming months.
