Ok, they didn’t take a knee. It’s hard to get more than 100 legislators to make a huddle. But Geno Auriemma, still delivered a pep talk Wednesday, showing a more serious side as he addressed the Connecticut House of Representatives on the topic of “tough decisions.”
WASHINGTON – For the fourth time in four years, President Obama on Tuesday praised the University of Connecticut women’s basketball team for winning the NCAA championship. “So there’s an old saying, you can’t win all the time, except this team wants to consistently bust that cliché,” Obama said.
In the news: The Iran nuclear pact survives; GE lobbies for the Export-Import Bank; the number in Connecticut without health insurance drops; the delegation opposes defunding Planned Parenthood; and the UConn women’s basketball team shows up at the White House — again.
“They’ve visited so much they are now certified to give White House tours,” the president said.
President Obama phoned the head coaches of both University of Connecticut basketball teams Tuesday to congratulate them on their National Championship wins.
