Washington – Rep. Elizabeth Esty, D-5th District, and her Republican challenger, Litchfield businessman Mark Greenberg, will face off for the first time in a debate format next month.

The League of Women Voters of Connecticut, the Danbury News-Times, and the Portuguese Cultural Center in Danbury will host the debate in Danbury on Oct. 9, at 7 p.m.

The debate will be moderated by Jara Burnett from the League of Women Voters of Connecticut. The Connecticut Network, CT-N, tentatively plans to live stream the event.

The Esty campaign said other debates between the candidates for the 5th District congressional seat are expected.
