The U.S. House of Representatives has approved a bill that would block states such as Vermont and Connecticut from requiring food producers to label products containing genetically modified organisms.

For example, some people believe that all GMOs are harmful to human health and the environment, while others hold that while GMOs allowing for more pesticide use are horrible, those that can create drought and heat tolerance in foods should not be banned.

Still others argue that labeling GMO foods does nothing to protect the public, that the issue has grown from panic and fear, and that labeling should not be required by the federal government or individual states like Connecticut.
