Potential New Haven mayoral challengers emerging

Two 40-something New Haveners —a former alder who runs the Land Trust and an ex-federal prosecutor who targeted government corruption — are “seriously considering” challenging incumbent Toni Harp for mayor in 2019. The two, Justin Elicker and Liam Brennan, have been meeting with community leaders and activists to build support for Democratic mayoral primary challenges.

Breast milk block inspires call to action

A day after Sten Vermund felt “kicked in the gut,” he found himself talking about a new opportunity to fight back against a U.S. government effort to water down and almost completely derail a resolution by the World Health Assembly calling on countries to recognize that breast milk is the healthiest beverage for children and to limit misleading marketing of substitutes like infant formula.
