A 10 cent tax on plastic shopping bags was approved by the Senate Tuesday. The bill also bans plastic bags after 2021.
The amended bill would give retailers an extra year to implement the ban on plastic bags. It would also require paper bags be made of 40 percent recycled content and 100 percent recyclable.
