Washington –The White House has confirmed that President Obama will campaign for Gov. Dannel Malloy in Bridgeport next week.
“On October 15, the president will travel to Bridgeport, Connecticut for a campaign rally with Connecticut Democrats featuring Governor Dan Malloy,” a White House official said. “Additional details will be made available in the coming days.”
Obama headlined a fundraiser in Greenwich on Tuesday to raise money for vulnerable Senate Democrats, but Malloy did not attend that event.
Malloy is in a tight race against Republican Tom Foley, who has been helped in his campaign by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, the head of the Republican Governors Association.
Obama stumped for Malloy when he first ran for governor four years ago, an effort that was considered a help to Malloy, who had a narrow victory over Foley in that race. Malloy’s overwhelming margin in Bridgeport was crucial in securing the win.
