Apple Rehab execs say Rowland provided no services

NEW HAVEN – Prosecutors offered evidence Friday aimed at undercutting former Gov. John G. Rowland’s claim that his $5,000 monthly fee from Brian Foley’s nursing home chain was for substantial work, not a means to hide his alleged status as paid consultant to the congressional campaign of Foley’s wife. And Andrew Roraback, a congressional candidate who says Rowland ambushed him on his radio show, told his story in court.

Connecticut takes a deep look at racial profiling in traffic stops

Black drivers were nearly twice as likely as white drivers to be stopped by police in Connecticut, and blacks stopped were twice as likely as whites to have their vehicles searched, according to a compilation of 360,000 traffic stops from Oct. 1, 2013 through May 31, 2014. A town-by-town report card will follow in January after analysis of a full year’s data, adjusted for local factors such as commuting patterns

Quinnipiac Poll: Foley leads Malloy by 6 points in governor’s race

Quinnipiac University’s first survey of the Connecticut governor’s race in four months found Republican Tom Foley leading Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, the first-term Democrat, by 6 percentage points among likely voters with two months left in their campaign. In a poll released Wednesday, Foley’s lead was 46 percent to 40 percent, with petitioning candidate Joe Visconti at 7 percent.
