Trump budget calls for huge increases in CT-made subs, ‘copters
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump’s new budget would dramatically boost spending on the Virginia-class and Columbia-class submarines built by Electric Boat in Connecticut and sharply increase the Pentagon’s purchase of Sikorsky helicopters in the next federal fiscal year. While those increases may be approved by Congress, much of Trump’s budget was considered DOA.

Federal budget deal boosts defense projects, other programs in CT
WASHINGTON — Connecticut’s defense industry is a big winner in a new budget deal that will keep the federal government running through September. It allows the Pentagon to increase the number of F-35 fighters and nearly double the number of Sikorsky Black Hawks it purchases this year. The bipartisan bill also funds a number of domestic programs important to the state, including the National Coast Guard Museum.

Navy moves step closer to contract with Sikorsky on King Stallion
WASHINGTON — The Navy on Tuesday moved a critical step toward awarding Sikorsky a contract on the first two huge King Stallion helicopters to be built in Connecticut. But the complete rollout of the program, which is expected to cost at least $25 billion, will be slow.

Sikorsky, Malloy cut tentative deal to produce new helicopter in Connecticut
Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and Lockheed Martin announced a tentative deal Monday to produce a new generation of Sikorsky heavy-lift helicopters in Connecticut at the cost of $220 million in financial incentives from the state and an agreement with its union workforce. The General Assembly is tentatively scheduled to consider the deal in special session Sept. 28.
